Palm Jumeirah, which is commonly referred to as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ is an engineering marvel and known the world over. And let’s not be in doubt that an aerial view of this mammoth construction is impressive, but exploring it on the water is just as rewarding.
Kayak around Dubai's Palm Jumeirah at great value
If you’re staying in a beach resort hotel in Dubai, the rental of water sports equipment can be expensive, but head to the independent ‘Monty’s Rowing and Paddle Sports Club’ located at the Club Vista Mare beach on Dubai's Palm Jumeirah and you can rent out a kayak for as little as AED 60 – much better value!

You’ll get an hour and be able to explore the many fronds, many of which are littered in luxury villas and residences, you’ll be able to look back at the incredible skyline of Dubai Marina, or just sit back and enjoy being out on the water in the middle of one of the most famous islands in the world.

There are multiple single and double kayaks to rent out, and you don’t need to book. Just turn up and after payment (in cash) you’ll be on your way. If kayaking isn’t your thing, there are also paddle boards and giant water tricycles available.
Palm Jumeirah, the eighth wonder of the world...
Palm Jumeirah is incredible and in many ways put Dubai on the global map. The opening of the 5* resort, Atlantis – The Palm in 2008 is often seen as the opening of the island and it is now home to over 10,000 residents and multiple 5* luxury resorts. Clearly visible from space (not sure if you will be whilst kayaking) and one of Dubai’s most successful projects, it is well worth exploring.
Even though you’ll be kayaking surrounded by land, you still have a real sense of sea kayaking as the island cleverly allows the ocean tidal flow in through its inlets. All in all, this is sea kayaking surrounded by luxury and stunning views.
For me, head out in the morning or early evening to experience the brilliant sunrise or sunsets that Dubai has to offer and take in one of the many restaurants for breakfast or dinner after your kayak at Club Vista Mare.
